It weighs 450g (16 ounces) and is a great shelter for those looking to save a lot of weight without having to compromise protection from the creepy crawlies. All around the shelter is a nice perimeter bug netting and the same No-See-Um netting up in the vent.

It has ample space for one person and all of the gear and by utilizing a piece of Tyvek or Polycro groundsheet that will act as your floor, you get the full bug protection that you would generally find in a tent, without having the extra weight of a bathtub floor on a shelter. 

The tent is set up with one trekking pole set at 49 inches or one of the SMD accessory poles we sell and 6 stakes. The pole itself can be positioned in such a way as to lower or raise the whole tent. Lower is good for high winds, higher is good for adding extra ventilation and space.

With Deschutes shelter you have got a fantastic opportunity to shift away from a traditional heavy shelter setup to a minimalistic lightweight shelter with a full 360° of protection unlike flat tarps. There’s also no need to carry an additional bivy.

It packs so small and light they might literally get lost in your pack, yet they are large enough for a comfortable night’s rest without the claustrophobia of a small tarp. The complete package weighs in at around 450g (counting the non-included pole and tent stakes).
